When it comes to life’s personal development, most of the time, if not all the time, we are where we are in life for reasons. Those reasons are because of how we live our lives. It’s about the choices and decisions that we make. Other reasons are because of natural causes, which are out of our control, such as whether we are going to be born in a rich or poor family or which genetic make up we would live with for the rest of our lives.

But enough of those things that we have no control over. The important thing to discuss here is how we can enhance positive change in our lives and I’m referring to the ones that we have control over.

There are many reasons why we should place our interest and attention in enhancing positive life experiences, those reasons are commonly known as better health, longer life, have more energy, become more intelligent, stronger physically and emotionally, have better friends, find a great partner and build a great life with, experience more peace, become wealthier financially and spiritually and ultimately experience life to the fullest with least regret whatsoever.

Sounds great. But that’s not the end of work that we have to do. This leads us to the next important question, which is how are we going to make this a reality? How are we going to start to make it come to life and not just a mere wishful thinking? By the way, what is the big difference between wishful thinking and actually achieving the things that we want? The big difference lies in taking consistent actions towards the achievement of the goal. And that’s exactly what we are going to get into next.

Let Go of the Things of the Past

Let us say you already have a goal set for yourself, the first thing that you need to do in order for you to start the positive change is to let go of the past. The reason why it’s very difficult for us to change is because we cling onto our past or unwilling to let go of it completely.

What does that mean? If your past have brought you to the life that you have now and you continue to live that way its going to be virtually impossible to make the change. You have to welcome the light to let go of darkness. They cannot co-exist with each another.  Change only comes when your thinking and actions have changed and is geared towards the future.

It’s going to be difficult to stop smoking if you keep associating yourself with people who are constantly smoking, drinking and doing drugs. It’s the same thing with other bad habits that you want to get rid of. The lesson here is to remove yourself out of the environments and groups of people who are congruent with the things that you want to leave behind.

The reason why is because they constantly affect the way you think and the decisions that you make. This is the most critical part of the change. So if you are serious about making a positive change in your life you must be willing and ready to sacrifice the negative past.

That past means, group of friends, environment or other things that influences your mind and entice you to keep doing the same things again and again and produce the same mediocre results. If you want to quit doing drugs then stay away from people who do drugs, if you want to be more successful in life and stop being a loser, then stop hanging out with people who don’t have the desire or intention to improve the quality of their lives.

Albert Einstein has a word for it and its called insanity. “Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.”

Welcome and Embrace the Future

In order for us to move forward to something better it is vital to set a destination and constantly focus your mind on it. Your future is your goal. It means that you have to set a goal, which is a much higher standard than the one you have in the past. What do you want to achieve? What better things that you want to possess and experience? Discover them, get in touch with them and know them well as if you are building a relationship, because it is indeed a relationship with future.

What is it like to welcome and to embrace your ideal future? Like it was mentioned earlier it’s a relationship between you and your future(your ideal life). In order for you to have strong connection with it you need to build it, nourish it, communicate with it. Treat it as if it’s a living thing. You do that by talking about it, write about it, read about it. Constantly looking for ways to achieve it with conviction.
